Fashion Houston premiered Tuesday evening in front of a crowd full of fashion enthusiasts who packed the Wortham Center. As an electrifying energy filled the venue, the show kicked off with London based designer Marios Schwab, whose collection included clean silhouettes and neutral colors. Using jeweled detail, hints of denim, and wicker embellishments on minimalistic pieces, texture could be found on almost every one of his designs. Adding backpacks and straps to flowing gowns, he also managed to do the unthinkable, merging the industrial with the ethereal.

Another crowd-pleaser was the wearable designs of Catherine Deane. Deane presented a collection of sheath dresses and graceful gowns. Instead of plunging necklines, dresses with plunging backs made for an unexpected surprise. Deane delivered the perfect dichotomy, pairing elegant lace with exposed zippers and leather.

But the evening’s standouts were from emerging Houston designers Amir Taghi, Viet Nguyen and Jo'se Reyes. Taghi incorporated classic blacks and navy blues with a dash of leather into his cohesive designs. Nguyen displayed quite the opposite with a collection full of subtle pastels and soft floral prints. Reyes took the traditional women’s suit and turned it into a runway showstopper that included structured shoulders and bold royal blues that made every piece pop. Check out the evening best looks both on and off the runway.
