Oyster lovers already know that Thursday is a "good" night to stop by Goode Company Seafood on I-10 near Memorial City. Raw oysters on the half shell are $6.95 a dozen from 4 to 10 p.m. during the restaurant's Thursday "Oyster Night" promotion.

The oysters I enjoyed there on a recent Thursday night were Galveston Bay oysters from Johnny and Lisa Halili's Prestige Oyster company of San Leon. I washed them down with a gin martini.

The other reason to visit the Memorial City Goode Company Seafood is because the menu includes a lot of "shell roasted" oyster variations that aren't found at the West Park location. Along with the excellent Goode Company version of oysters Rockefeller with a cap of broiled hollandaise, there are also oysters Bienville and few unique creations.

"Oysters Bovine" is an oyster broiled inside a slice of smoked ribeye steak. It might remind you of that famous old dish called a "Carpetbagger Steak," a thick steak with a pocket cut in the middle stuffed with oysters. There are also a couple of Italian-style baked oysters on the list. I capped off my dinner with a fried oyster salad.

Maybe I'll see you there.
