We had kolaches for breakfast last week at the Houstonia offices in a fitting goodbye to the Olde Towne Kitchen location at 14129 Memorial. On Sunday April, 21 the bakery closed its doors permanently, to the dismay of West Houston residents who take kolaches seriously. The poppy-seed kolaches at this charming shop were among the best examples of the Tex-Czech breakfast pastry in the entire state. The mini cinnamon rolls weren't bad either.

The original Olde Towne Kitchens remains open at 12037 NW Freeway (just off 43rd St. near Starbucks). And until they find a new location in the Memorial neighborhood, the owners have offered to deliver kolaches for breakfast or lunch to any location in the greater Houston area.
