I am delighted to announce that my long-time friend Katharine Shilcutt has joined us here at the Gastronaut blog this week. You're probably already familiar with Katharine's work—she has been blogging about the food scene in Houston since 2007, beginning with her own blog "She Eats."
Food comes naturally to Katharine. Her mother is a chef, and her father claims to be the best pitmaster in Texas. She is a seventh-generation Texan, a born-and-raised Houstonian. She has lived all over the city, including Memorial, Montrose, and Midtown, and she's currently preparing to move to the North Side.
Katharine was nominated for a James Beard Award in 2011, and for the Association of Food Journalists Award three years in a row (2011, 2012, and 2013). She won the AFJ award in 2011 and 2012 and will travel to Park City, Utah later this year to find out about the 2013 award.
As Features Editor at Houstonia magazine, Katharine will be working on cover stories as well as blogging. Everybody here is looking forward to her smart and funny take on what's going on in the city.
