The first hints of a Madewell store in Houston turned out to be something of a false alarm, unless you happen to be willing to make a trek out to the Woodlands for a striped sweater. The wait is nearly over for anyone hoping for something a little more centrally located, though: On June 4th, Madewell will open a location in the Galleria.

Madewell is a recent offshoot of J. Crew, frequently described as the brand's cooler little sister, so it makes perfect sense that they got native Houstonian Solange (Beyonce's hip kid sister) to model for a recent catalogue. Previous to that, the brand borrowed cool points from it-girls by releasing two capsule collections designed by Alexa Chung, a British television presenter with a devoted following comprised primarily of girls who covet her wardrobe of tomboyish essentials and feminine 1960s-inspired pieces.

As for what's currently in stock, Madewell carries a mix of their own in-house brands and selections from emerging designers like the whimsical, vintage loving Rachel Antonoff, and textile masters Ace & Jig.  If you are the type of girl who requires ten different chambray shirt options, you're in luck, because denim gets plenty of shelf space. You can also expect an array of silk button down shirts, brunch-ready sundresses, and cozy sweaters come wintertime.
