Maine-ly Sandwiches serves what is arguably the best lobster roll in Houston.

Good news for those hardy souls who have been patiently making the drive north to Greenspoint every time they want a lobster roll: Maine-ly Sandwiches, one of only two lobster roll purveyors in the city, is opening a second location smack dab in the middle of Houston. Starting August 1, if all goes as planned, you'll be able to get your lobster roll fix at 3310 S. Shepherd, where Maine-ly Sandwiches is currently sprucing up the old Sugarbaby's Cupcake Boutique.

The little sandwich shop at 10745 North Freeway run by Maine native Buddy Charity and his family became an overnight success when it began offering its Friday lunch special—a true New England-style lobster roll on a buttery, toasted roll—on a daily basis. Success also meant long lines every day, as well as fans begging for the shop to open a more central location.

In a Facebook post on May 6, the shop hinted at opening a second location when it asked its fans: "If you could have a Maine-ly Sandwiches in your area where would you want it to be?" Fans were quick to chime in with plenty of suggestions, but those who cast their votes for Montrose won the prize. "We were looking around at different locations. That one just seemed right," says Angela Charity, Buddy's wife.

There's still a lot of cupcake paraphernalia to remove before Maine-ly can move in.

They're currently working feverishly to get the old cupcake boutique open in time in a few weeks, the height of lobster roll season—which can't come soon enough for some fans. "We've been there all week, and people are stopping in off the street to ask when we're opening," Angela reports.

In addition to Maine-ly Sandwiches' full menu (which also includes excellent hoagies and homemade Whoopie Pies), Angela says they're looking into getting deep-fryers for the new location. "We might do french fries," she hints. "Or maybe even crab cakes."
