This week's Houston Press cover story delves into the Copperfield upbringing of Horst Christian Simco and his sudden transformation from whitebread former Langham Creek High School student into heavily-inked, Vanilla Ice-adoring, Twitter- and YouTube-infamous hip-hop MC Riff Raff.
James Franco's self-proclaimed muse made headlines last month with a North Carolina drug arrest, but that bust was not his first brush with the legal system.
Back on July 7, 2002, Simco, then 20 years old, was arrested by Harris County sheriffs. From behind bars Simco arranged for the services of court-appointed attorney Ronald C. Nicholas. Bond was set at $5,000, unusually high for such a penny-ante charge. (Possibly Simco was deemed a flight risk—he was dividing time between Houston and Minnesota back then.) Three days later Simco pled guilty to Class B misdemeanor theft and judge Jean Hughes sentenced him to 10 days in Harris County Jail.
We asked the Harris County District Attorney's Office for more details, and they came through for us.
The complainant was an area Kohl's department store. Simco entered the store, tried on clothes, and then swaggered right past the cash registers and on out the door.
Boostin' at Kohl's! Damn!
I guess he was not messin' with hos who rock Dolce and Gabbana back then.
