Bife asado—churrasco-cut filet mignon with smoked peppers—is $17 on the lunch menu at Julia's Bistro.

The juicy, churrasco-style tenderloin steak topped with zesty smoked green chiles we had at Julia's Bistro the other day was exceptional—the chipotle mashed potatoes and snow peas were tasty, too. We stopped in for lunch to see what sort of changes the new owner had made. But everything seemed about the same. In fact, the ceviche of the day was still seasoned with mint and ginger, a combination that we marvelled over when the place opened a decade ago.

After 10 years, the owners of Julia's Bistro decided to retire and sell the place, the manager told us. The new owner is Marcus Davis, who owns the Breakfast Klub next door. The same chef is in the kitchen, and the while the nuevo latino menu changes all the time, there won't be any shift in the concept, she told us. 

Marcus Davis is building an impressive empire at the Ensemble Station light rail stop. Along with Julia's Bistro, Davis has also bought the bar next door that used to be called The Mink with partner Kory Hinton. The name of the bar has been changed to Alley Kat Bar and Lounge. It is advertised as a low-key speakeasy with premium cocktails and $4 beers.
