Revelry on Richmond

Montrose sports fans, rejoice. The oft-rotating space next to Maria Selma now has a bar worthy of its location. Offering stellar bar food alongside dozens of craft beers on tap, Revelry’s thoughtful balance between bar space and tables makes it ideal for groups of all sizes. Add in the big-screen TVs that ring the space, and you’ve got the makings of a neighborhood favorite.

Don’t miss: Revelry’s version of poutine, that Canadian concoction of hand-cut fries ladled with imperial stout gravy and cheese curds
Listen for: Trivia questions on Wednesdays, aka Geeks Who Drink night

The Den

The University of Houston is making a small, albeit concerted, effort at creating a rich campus experience, and The Den (although technically off-campus) is at the very heart of that. Bright, clean, and welcoming, The Den is both a social space for students and a dyed-in-the-wool Cougar sports bar. Keeping in line with its on-campus location, the bar menu is focused on the college-going demographic with lots of shots and stiff drinks.

Don't miss: The craft beer selection is also solid, with a strong focus on local brewers like Saint Arnold, Karbach, and Southern Star.
Listen for: The roar of the co-eds during football season; The Den is easily the best place to celebrate the renaissance of UH sports.

Nick’s Place

You know a bar is serious about sports when it provides Doc’s Sports Journal free of charge and opens for breakfast and ballgames at 9 a.m. On the west side since 1993, Nick’s doubles as a popular neighborhood joint and sports aficionado’s nirvana, where you can enjoy college football on 40 different TVs without pesky crowds of frat boys or shot girls trying to upsell you.

Don’t miss: Texas Tuesdays, with beer specials, as well as a chicken-fried steak and two sides deal for $6.99

The Richmond Arms Pub

Though often packed with Arsenal supporters, this merrie olde English pub near The Galleria welcomes soccer fans of all clubs and countries. During World Cup season and big Champions League matches, it’s standing room only, of course, but otherwise you’ll find plenty of space to relax with a pint near the fireplace and take in a game or two over a cottage pie or Cornish pastie.

Don’t miss: Third Wednesdays each month, when Toad Club regulars bring their foreign or exotic cars—both current and classic—to show off in the parking lot
Listen for: Football chants from “You’ll Never Walk Alone” (rare) to “Oooh to Be a Gooner” (frequent)
