The weather has been unseasonably lovely lately, and with the latest round of thunderstorms that passed through yesterday it's been even nicer outside—especially at night. No better time, then, to head downtown to Discovery Green for Sundown at The Grove, a weekly series featuring craft beer flights paired with light bites from Grove chef de cuisine Ryan Williams.

Each week spotlights a different craft brewery, and this time it's Houston's own Karbach Brewing Co., whose brewmaster Eric Warner collaborated with chef Williams to create tonight's food pairings.

A $15 ticket gets you food, 4-ounce pours of Karbach beer (or two glasses of wine, for the non-beer-drinkers), and live entertainment from DJ Sun as the sun goes down outside. You don't have to hang out outside if you prefer the comforts of the A/C indoors, but the tree-lined rooftop patio at The Grove and its expansive view of the downtown skyline is half the allure here.

Should you decide to drive, valet parking is available for $7, though street parking downtown is free after 6 p.m. The Wave will also be offering discounted rates to The Grove all evening long.

Tickets are available at the door, but be warned: they sell out fast. Each Wednesday night Sundown runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m., though we hear the tickets were all gone by 7:30 p.m. last week.

If you miss tonight's event with Karbach, don't despair: Sundown runs all summer long, with a different brewery featured every Wednesday:

  • July 16: Karbach
  • July 23: Goose Island
  • July 30: Fort Bend Brewing Co.
  • August 6: Firestone Walker
  • August 13: “Cider Night” feat. Johnny Apple Seed, Stella Cidre, Wood Chuck
  • August 20: Taste of Belgium
  • August 27: Sierra Nevada
  • September 3: Shock Top
  • September 10: Karbach
  • September 17: Saint Arnold
