Houston’s fashion enthusiasts gathered at the Aloft Houston last Friday to seek blogging strategy from an influential panel of top bloggers. The event was hosted by Platformit, a group dedicated to gathering emerging creatives, corporate leaders, and entrepreneurs who are working toward a personal and professional passion. The panel featured fashion bloggers Josh Robertson, Magen Pastor, Yvonne Guidry, and Philip Adesulu. Moderated by Ahrif Sarumi, the group discussed blogging misconceptions, networking basics, and the importance of reciprocity.

Panelists also revealed their individual “big breaks” in fashion blogging. Robertson’s recent shining moment was winning GQ magazine’s “How GQ Are You?”, where he was awarded a custom GQ-branded Fiat.

For Adesulu, his break was being featured on BuzzFeed’s 14 Men’s Fashion Instagrams That Are Fresh to Death. “My Instagram followers went from 5,000 to 13,000 overnight,” Adesulu explained.

After the panel discussion, local band BLSHS took the stage as guests continued to mingle and network. For more photos from the evening, click the slideshow below.
