A couple of months ago, in an interview with E! Online correspondent Mark Malkin, Cameron Diaz revealed she hasn't used deodorant in nearly 20 years.
"I don't believe in antiperspirant," she said. "It's really bad for you. I haven't used it for almost 20 years." And she followed with, "You're stinky because you use antiperspirant. It keeps all the stink in."
Interesting, Ms. Diaz. Very intersting. But those comments do beg the question, Have you ever been to Houston in early August?
Triple digit temps combined with a million percent humidity—we're the ideal market for body-odor battlers (my personal fave, Secret Clinical). But I can’t help wondering if there’s something to Diaz’s comments. After all, there are lots of other wackadoo celebrities on the anti-antipersperant bandwagon these days—Matthew McConaughey, Bradley Cooper, Julia Roberts, and Kourtney Kardashian (at least when she's pregnant or nursing).
While going completely au naturel seems like a bad idea (I’d like to keep my job, after all, and experimenting with body odor seems like a good way to lose it), but maybe a nice first step to no deo is natural deodorant. After all, doesn't it seem like the natural deodorant section of the drugstore is getting bigger and bigger? There have got to be some people buying and liking.
After some Googling and polling of friends (from California, obviously), I’ve come up with a list of worth-a-try natural deodorants. I am in no way endorsing these products. I haven’t even tried them … yet. Really, I just want your opinion.
2. Crystal Body Deodorant Spray
It gets great reviews, was a recommendation from a friend, and only costs $4.00. (I'm leaning toward this one.)
3. Weleda Wild Rose Deodorant
Honestly, I chose this one because local model Julia Overby (whom I interviewed here) recommended another product from the Weleda line, and as I was checking out their site, I stumbled across their natural deodorant, which seems to get some online praise.
So, wearers of natural deodorant, I’m talking to you. First, have you tried any of these? B) Did you like any of these? And three, if not, what do you wear?
