The globetrotting group, featuring 100 members from 30 different countries split into four groups, has been touring the world since its inception in 1924. For their performance, the boys will do a program called “Silk Road,” featuring songs from countries like Pakistan, Uzbekistan and China.

This Opera in the Heights doubleheader will combine two Gian Carlo Menotti works from the 1940s into one interesting, three-act evening. In Medium, a fake psychic surprises herself by actually making contact with the spirit world, while Telephone concerns a young man trying to squeak in a marriage proposal to his phone-addicted girlfriend.

The Utrecht-born artist—who was actually more known for his penchant for being a good businessman by buying and selling flax and trading stock—was a master of the Mannerism style of painting during the Dutch Golden Age. Thirty-five of his refined, elegant, surprising works, which tell stories from mythology and the bible, travel to Houston this month after shows in Utrecht and Washington, DC.
