Kirk Hanna isn't your average cowboy. The ranch-born, boot-wearing Colorado native, and subject of this documentary, gained notoriety for his eco-friendly efforts to stop development and expansion on farms and ranches in the western U.S. Local indie synth-pop band BLSHS also performs at the screening at Discovery Green.

River Oaks Chamber Orchestra's offshoot group, the Brass Quintet, plays the first of a trio of special performances at MATCH. The five-piece band is noted for its wide array of song choices as well as its playful interaction with audiences.

The 41st annual Ren Fest returns to Houston and kicks things off with an Oktoberfest-themed weekend complete with giant turkey legs, barrels of mead and most excellent jousting bouts. Kids get in free on Sundays through the festival's run, so don't be afraid to get the kids out to see some epic falconry.

The infamous gun-toting lovers lived out a short spree of small-town crimes, blazing a trail through Texas that would later inspire movies, TV adaptations and, in 2011, a Tony-nominated musical that hits the stage courtesy of TUTS Underground.
