Houston Turkey Trot
Runners from around the world participate in the TXU Energy–sponsored race, which helps Neighborhood Centers, an organization that helps low-income Houstonians seeking financial stability, along with educational and community engagement. Burn a few calories before chowing down on that turkey, and help people in need at the same time.
Lights of Love 5K
Austin, TX, Dec. 4
Runners in this race will support the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas, an organization that provides “homes away from home” for families with sick kids. The charity also supports families that have lost children to illness through its Health Hearts program, which assists with burial costs and bereavement support.
Jingle Bell Run/Walk
Atlanta, GA, Dec. 4
This race will get you into the holiday spirit as you support a good cause. Proceeds from benefit the Arthritis Foundation, which helps young people living with arthritis.
Jingle Bell Run for Girls on the Run
Santa Fe, NM, Dec. 5
This 5k race takes place along the Arroyos Chamisos trail in Santa Fe and benefits a youth development program that encourages physical activity among girls in third to eighth grades.
New Orleans, LA, Dec. 5
Runners in this race—which includes a one-mile run and walk and a 5K—support the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that helps veterans and their families. All active-duty military participants and their spouses can register at a discounted rate.
