Face it: Black Friday is a farce, an embarrassment and a pretty terrible way to spend time with your family over the short Thanksgiving holiday. The myth of the Black Friday deal has been well-documented over the years—the myth that you're actually getting a better deal on this one day of the year—so why buy in to the madness?
Instead, opt out of the fake door-buster deals and into a legit deal over at Rainbow Lodge, a lovely 100-year-old log cabin where you can take your friends and/or family, sit down to a pleasant meal next to a pretty fireplace overlooking a nice garden and enjoy each other's company over some really well-made burgers.
Every Friday, Rainbow Lodge chef Kelly Boyd rounds up the leftover wild game he's used throughout the week and grinds them into a burger patty that's entirely different from one Friday to the next. The $13 burger special comes with a side of house-made chips.
Rainbow Lodge will be open this Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., with the burgers offered all day long (until they sell out, which they inevitably d0). Also offered all day is Rainbow Lodge's new happy hour menu, which includes dishes like crispy quail with white cheddar grits and bourbon-bacon gravy, fries with shredded buffalo and smoked Gouda and Boyd's famous smoked duck gumbo.
Look for specials on wine, beer and cocktails to round out the day's happy hour, and look for some family to round up and take out for a good meal Friday. After all, y'all just spent the whole previous day cooking; let someone else feed you this time around, and be thankful for it.
