No occasion is too big or too small to raise awareness—and funds—in an effort to continue the fight against cancer. That's the reason Houston Corks and Forks is hosting its inaugural gala at Prohibition Supperclub & Bar this Sunday, Nov. 15, bringing together culinary talents from all corners of the city to benefit the American Cancer Society. The ACS funds groundbreaking research that helps understand, prevent and cure cancer while rallying communities worldwide to join the fight.
Sunday's event is dedicated to raising funds to continue research for breast, ovarian and cervical cancers, and plans to honor and celebrate women who have been affected by these and other cancers. Houston Corks and Forks promises an evening of superior entertainment, fantastic food and fundraising for this worthy cause, teaming up with Ben McPherson, Prohibition's culinary director, who's curated a line-up of great guest chefs who'll be cooking alongside him. Guests will have the opportunity to savor an array of dishes, bid on silent auction items—including pieces from the Kendra Scott jewelry collection—and enter to win big-ticket raffle items. Additionally, VIP ticket holders will be invited to the newly opened Hemingway Room where an exclusive private whiskey tasting will be held.
Along with McPherson and Prohibition chef de cuisine Matt Womack, look for dishes from acclaimed chefs Chris Loftis of Killen's Steakhouse, Austin Simmons of Hubbell & Hudson, and Matthew Lovelace and Greg Lowry of Pour Society. The surprise menu will come complete with wine and champagne pairings, while the gala itself will provide an interactive culinary experience for diners as the chefs circulate throughout the night. Attendees will be invited to vote for their favorite chef based on the evening's dishes, with the winning chef announced at the end of the night.
Considering that Killen's Steakhouse, Hubbell & Hudson, Pour Society and Prohibition are all located in very different corners of our big city—from Pearland to The Woodlands—Corks and Forks provides a unique opportunity by corralling their talented chefs into one location for the evening. General admission tickets are available online for $125, while VIP tickets are $200.
