Logically, there's no reason to romanticize the desert. It's flat, dry, colorless, full of snakes, and tragically lacking in tropical breezes.

And yet there's something about the sheer expanse and emptiness of the West Texas that has a way of capturing the imagination—it's no wonder artists and filmmakers have flocked to Marfa for decades. The latest creative to be inspired by the West Texas town is Houston-based accessories designer Elaine Turner, who designed her Resort 2015 collection after Marfa's "humble bohemia."

Pale hues of bone and sand predominate, mixed with a matte black and gold leather that is infused with a subtle all-over shine. A gold-flecked python print exudes natural glamour, and a woven chevron print adds a casual texture.

"We find beauty in simple shapes and a neutral palette," declares Turner and company on her blog.

Frankly, the whole collection makes us feel like we're a million miles away. Which (on a day like today) is exactly the point.
