Reduce, reuse, recycle. Maybe if we talked about sustainable living in a more fun way, Houston wouldn't be among the worst cities in the country when it comes to recycling.
Earth Day the Cheeky Way
April 22, 5-8 p.m.
2134 Richmond Ave.
"Earth Day the Cheeky Way" is a celebration of the vintage boutique's customers and a reminder that wearing vintage clothes is more than a style statement.
"We love the style and the unique qualities of vintage, but it is also being green, and that's such a nice part of our business," says Davis. "When you think about all the clothing out there, cotton is the biggest crop. That's using up a lot of resources. [When it comes to fast fashion] people are becoming more aware that the person making these clothes is making 50 cents a day. It is disposable, literally. They don't make clothes like they used to, and it makes you stop and think about the things you choose to put on your body."
To lead up to the party on Wednesday evening, Cheeky Vintage has been highlighting a few of their customers (or "Cheeky Girls") on social media, asking them why they wear vintage as well as what other ways they go green.
"They're all great clients, with diverse backgrounds and professions who love wearing vintage. Even in the corporate world you can mix it in," says Davis.
