April showers bring May flowers. This adage can be taken literally—flowers will indeed bloom because of April's rain—but it can also be interpreted to say that a period of discomfort can provide the basis for a period of happiness and joy.
Maybe that's why we girls like to start wearing florals in May, with its busy calendar of events, to reflect this special time of year. Whether you are attending the Kentucky Derby, Cinco de Mayo parties, graduations, wedding showers, Mother's Day celebrations or outdoor events, it's uplifting to wear floral. I like many of the florals on the runways this year that were edgier against black backgrounds.
I took my black dress over to Em & Lee Boutique on West Gray for a head-to-toe makeover. Adding a floral chemise with lots of colors is a great way to brighten your LBD for spring. I also added lots of colorful accessories including jewelry, shoes and purse.
This is the year of flower headbands. They are being worn to everything from music festivals to formal balls.
I love how light and floaty this top is. See ya, I'm off to a party!
