Are you an award-winning shower singer? It's time to make your debut. Come now, don't be shy: this weekend, the Houston Symphony is hosting a sing-along featuring Debbie Gravitte, 1989 Tony Award winner for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her appearance in Jerome Robbins’ Broadway, along with Doug LaBrecque, best known for his role as Ravenal in Showboat. If you miss a note, they'll carry you!
The singers will perform solo and duet numbers for all ages, selecting from popular shows like The Sound of Music, Jersey Boys, Oklahoma!, The Lion King and Frozen.
“I love watching people enjoying themselves in concert as they listen to us peform, but I often see them mouthing the words,” Robert Franz, the conductor of the concert and an educational pioneer, said in a news release. “This is a fantastic opportunity to actually make sound and sing right along. There’s nothing like singing with two incredible Broadway singers and the incomparable Houston Symphony.”
The sing-along takes place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at Jones Hall. Jones Hall is located at 615 Louisiana St. Tickets start at $20.
