Despite relatively short hours, there's a lot to love about the weekly happy hour at Jupiter Pizza & Waffle. Sure, it's only held Tuesday through Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m., but during that brief window of time you can lounge around on its shaded patio, which affords the best view of Sugar Land's Town Square in our opinion, and keep even cooler with the $3 pints of local draft beer. As with its sister restaurant a few yards away, Guru Burgers & Crepes, the taps at Jupiter are stocked with Houston craft brews. And if you go on the right day, you may find yourself in the middle of a rare keg tapping or a tap takeover that will net you free glassware.

Of course, there's more on offer during the Cheap-O Good Times happy hour—the official name of which is still more endearing—than just beer, such as $4 mimosas, $5 glasses of wine and an array of (what else?) pizza and waffle bites. Both iterations of the restaurant's popular sweet potato fries are available, with or without melted fontina and bacon, and both can be topped with truffle oil for no extra charge. A miniature version of chicken and waffles, "wafflettes" on the menu, can be had for $6, while an entire flight of either sweet or savory waffles is available for $7 or $8, respectively, if you simply can't choose. And last but not least, mini pizzas—think bigger than Bagel Bites, but smaller than a personal pizza—are only $6 during Cheap-O Good Times.
Should you find yourself still peckish even after a mini pizza or two, a suggestion: head over to The Ginger Mule Tonics & Meals, the newest restaurant from the Sugar Land-based group that also owns Jupiter, Guru Burgers and the sushi spot that started it all, Japaneiro's. It's conveniently located right next door to Guru Burgers in the Sugar Land Town Square, but serves neither burgers nor crepes nor pizza nor waffles, nor does it have a happy hour. But the prices on its down-home bar bites—fresh cracklins to homemade biscuits with butter and honey, all priced at $4 each—mean every hour is happy hour here.
