A Tribute To John Williams

At some point everyone has hummed Darth Vader’s theme song, “Imperial March,” thanks to Williams, composer of some of the most identifiable movie scores. The Symphony serves up an ode to the film-score master with selections from Jaws, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Harry Potter.

After Conceptual Art and Minimalism rose to the level of commonplace in the art world in midcentury North America, artists shifted to a more expressionist movement. Cokeley’s work follows suit with his colorful abstract paintings highlighted by acrylic staining and free expression.

Russian Old New Year Festival

Even though the New Year lands on January 1, the Russian culture has a longstanding tradition of celebrating according to the Julian Calendar, that is to say about a week later. Houston's Russian Cultural Center puts together this festive New Year's bash complete with live music, plenty of food and tons of history.
