hot off the heels of last night's election results that announced Donald Trump as our nation's newest president, the Canadian immigration website has crashed while airlines across the nation have jumped on the opportunity to foster flight promotions to Canada amongst their usual domestic deals. Searches for the North American country also spiked during Election Day, up by 133 percent in comparison to the past four Tuesdays, according to cheapflights.com.

Houstonia, well aware of the ad hoc sales that airlines concoct from current events and pop culture references—especially Spirit Airlines, which is well-recognized for this tactic—decided to round up the top one-way and roundtrip flights around the world.

Canada, Eh

  • As noted above, Spirit was amongst the first to hop on the bandwagon of deals, offering 75 percent off all bookings, with trips from Houston to/from Orlando and Oakland as the only exception. Enter promo code “75PCT” by midnight on November 9 for trips booked from November 16 through December 19, and January 1 through February 8, 2017 (during the time Trump takes office). If you truly plan to visit Toronto or Montreal, Spirit will fly you into Plattsburgh or Niagara Falls, NY, which is a short drive from the country.
  • Flights out of Hobby and into Toronto with United Airlines  range from $307 to $357 anywhere between November 30 and February 1.
  • Through farecompare.com, American Airlines is offering flights to Calgary during November till January from $360, Vancouver from $372 and Montreal at $382; while Air Canada has tickets to Edmonton starting at $488, Halifax at $506, Ottawa at $434, Saskatoon at $382 and Quebec at $587 for the next three months.
  • Book a trip to Winnipeg, starting at $309 via Google Flights, with Delta Airlines specifically during the week of January 12 through January 18, 2017.

Domestic Trips

  • If you want to stay local— within the country, that is —Southwest Airlines has one-way flights from Hobby Airport to Charleston ($149), Charlotte ($160), Jacksonville ($143), Memphis ($94), Orlando ($154), Portland ($124), and Seattle ($124), to name several. Visit the site for a complete list of deals, which end November 10, and must be for trips booked from November 15 through April 24, 2017.
  • Spirit also has tickets to Atlanta, Baltimore, Denver, Fort Lauderdale, New Orleans and Tampa currently at $35 one way, Las Vegas at $55 and and Detroit at $75. This promotion ends at midnight on November 9 and is for trips for November 16 through February 8 of next year.
  • United also has affordable domestic flights, beginning with fares to Indianapolis from $155, New York/Newark, NJ from $160,  San Diego from $160, Tulsa from $123 and Washington, D.C. from $99. To snag the promotion, be sure to book your trips anywhere from November 24 till May 8 of the upcoming year.
  • Frontier Airlines is coming up short this week, offering promotions to only Denver and Las Vegas for $44 one way, which must be purchased by November 9. Eligible trips should be booked from November 22 through April 20.

International Leave

  • With Skyscanner.com, head out to Belize in January for $298, Manchester in February for $571 and Rome in April for $635.
  • One-way flights to Cabo San Lucas are starting at $147, Mexico City at $97, San Jose, Costa Rica at $124 and Montego Bay, Jamaica at $170 through Southwest Airlines.
