For Houstonians mourning the loss of Carrie Fisher, who suffered a heart attack over the weekend and died Tuesday, Alamo Drafthouse Mason Park in Katy is hosting a "Lightsaber Vigil" this Friday at 6:45 p.m. in the beer garden.
Fisher is best known for her role as Princess Leia in four Star Wars films, as well as staring in When Harry Met Sally and The Blues Brothers. She also published eight books, including her latest memoir, The Princess Diarist, released last month.
Attendees are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Star Wars characters and bring lightsabers, flash lights and glow sticks to "brighten the sky and say thank you to a woman who inspired us on and off the screen."
Members of Houston's Star Garrison of the 501st Legion, a local chapter of the worldwide Star Wars fan club, will be present at the memorial before the 7 p.m. screening of the latest franchise installment, Rogue One, where Fisher's younger self makes a cameo.
We'll miss you, Carrie.
