Never one to shy away from a little pageantry, Heart of Fashion founder Vivian Wise rented out a theater in the glam new iPic in River Oaks District for a private screening of Zoolander 2 to announce her big plans for 2016.
To be honest, the movie was a disappointment—it turns out the jokes from 2001, like the super-low-rise jeans we wore in 2001, didn't age that well. But that only meant that Wise's news was the highlight of the night.
First things first: Houston fashionistas need to block out November 16, 17 and 18 on their calendar, as those are the confirmed dates for the second-annual Heart of Fashion shows at MillionAir. The second-annual show is looking to be even stronger than the first: Wise reports that all of the fashion show slots have already been filled by her partner retailers, though the designer names are still strictly under wraps.
But if November is too long to wait before getting a dose of fashion week in your life, Wise has several events planned throughout the late spring and summer to build up excitement. On May 6 she's hosting a spring mystery show, with only 250 tickets available.
"I'm not going to tell you where it is—you have to buy a ticket to find out—but it's going to be very, very cool," said Wise.
Following that show, Wise is taking Heart of Fashion on the road, first to Aspen for another one-night engagement on July 29 and then to Santa Barbara, where she'll put on an event on Aug. 25 to benefit the Santa Barbara Boys & Girls Club in a mansion in the tiny hamlet of Montecito, just down the street from where Oprah lives.
Need another reason to book a ticket? The California show takes place during the Gulfstream Pacific Coast Open polo tournament. Quoth Wise: "All I heard was hot polo players and I was like, 'I need to be there.'" She got a big laugh for that line (and several volunteers to join her). Zoolander 2 never had a chance.
