Rihanna’s coming to town this month, so we’re inviting her, spending our entire budget on champagne, and, in an effort to keep her amused, seating her next to  Cinnabun, the adorable Houston bunny who’s the new face of Trix. Also seated together:  Anne Culver, president of Scenic Houston, which is going to beautify the, ahem, homely stretch of Broadway Street by Hobby Airport with 400 live oaks, among other things, and  Ann Collum, president of the Glenbrook Valley Civic Club, who’s thrown her support behind the amazing-sounding Houston Botanic Garden (which some others in the area oppose). The must-invite list also includes  Devon Anderson, the conservative Harris County DA who announced that Planned Parenthood wouldn’t be prosecuted for misusing fetal tissue, but that the hidden-camera-wielding anti-abortion activists who tried to bust them would;  Hunter Larsen—nickname, “Beef”—the Kingwood man appearing on the current season of Redneck Island; and  Anh Mai, who, with his business partner Lian Pham, this month opens the doors to a very cool new downtown “food hall” which will feature independent local vendors like Melange Creperie. And the last seat goes to an out-of-towner,  Joan Wilson, the Washington State mother of a gay high school senior, who, in reaction to the defeat of HERO, placed an ad in the Houston Chronicle announcing the boy’s coming-out. “He is a church deacon and enjoys filmmaking and baking,” she wrote. “And yes, he adores Barbra Streisand.” Preach.
