You hear it every summer: sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen. If your 4th of July was anything like ours, you spent a lot of time in the sun. Here's hoping you didn’t get burned, but if you did, we've tested out sunscreen options for your face that will keep away the burn while not bringing the breakouts or breaking the bank.
1. Sun Bum SPF 30 Original Sunscreen Lotion, $15.99
This sunscreen is for the whole body, so it has some serious multipurpose use, and thanks to Sun Bum's non-pore-clogging formula, your face will like it just as much as the rest of you.
You've probably been hearing a lot about Coola over the past few years, since several beauty authorities rank this eco-friendly brand in their top pics. Coola and Target then partnered up to create the Bare Republic line and this little gem was born, delivering a non-clogging formula and silky texture. Bonus: It comes in a tint as well!
3. CeraVe SPF 30 Broad Spectrum Face Lotion, $14.99
Developed by dermatologists, this formula is visible to spread but dries with a sheer finish. With helpful bonuses like hyaluronic acid, ceramides and niacinamide, it also can give your skin a much needed moisture boost during the intense summer months.
4. & 5. Neutrogena Clear Face/Ultra Sheer Liquid Sunscreens, $8-$11
We have two notable entries from this household-name brand. Clear Face is its latest sunscreen line, and it is a definitely great contender that's easy on the breakouts. That said, I have been using the Ultra Sheer liquid for years and it is one of the best on the market for protecting your face, plus it holds up to the high sun index and the hey-am-I-living-in-a-shower feeling Houstonians are used to.
6. Kiss My Face Face Factor Sunscreen, $11.99
Having a lot of eco-friendly and vegetarian friends growing up, I have been familiar with this line since my college days. Thankfully it is now widely available—the Face Factor line in SPF 30 and 50 is kind to your skin and keeps the harmful rays at bay.
7. L’Oréal Sublime Sun Advanced Suncreen, $10.99
I am a big fan of L'Oréal's new Sublime Sun line for both the body and the face. It goes on extremely sheer, can be found virtually anywhere and at under $15 is a great drugstore deal.
