Houston muggles, unite! The latest work by J.K. Rowling will be released at 12 a.m. Sunday morning, and Brazos Bookstore is hosting a magical countdown to celebrate its anticipated release this Saturday night.
A play rather than a novel, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is set 19 years after Deathly Hallows and follows Harry Potter, now a Ministry of Magic employee, and his younger son, Albus Severus Potter. This is the eighth official installment in the Harry Potter series. Cursed Child, a two-part West End stage play that premieres in London on Saturday, is based on an original new story by Jack Thorne, J.K. Rowling and John Tiffany.
Starting at 9 p.m. on Saturday, the West U bookshop will host an evening of enchanting events. The Brazos Cup Trivia Challenge begins at 9:30 p.m., along with an offering of snacks and refreshments (butterbeer, anyone?). Come dressed to impress with robes and wands for the costume contest. Winners will be announced at 11 p.m. and the line for the book release begins at 11:15 p.m. Pre-order your book ($29.99) to guarantee you won't be cursed with empty hands at midnight.
