Sawyer Yards' Fall Biannual Art Opening
Saturday, October 1st from 5–10 p.m.
The Washington Avenue Arts District comes alive as more than 300 artists open their studio doors around the campus's four buildings—Silo at Sawyer Yards, Winter Street, Silver Street and Spring Street studios. The public is welcomed to view and shop for new works including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, photography and mixed media, all while mingling with craftspeople and fellow art lovers. Don't forget to stroll along the newly finished 800-foot art mural by local artists (including a cameo appearance by Houstonia's headquarters!)

The Orange Show's Grand Opening of Smither Park
September 30 from 7–11 p.m.
Nearly six years in the making, Smither Park—a sparkling new gem in the East End—will open this Friday. Designed by Dan Phillips and constructed in honor of Houston folk art philanthropists Stephanie and John Smither, the park is filled with the handiwork of hundreds of artists—over 300 of them, who helped create the park alongside the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art—who have meticulously crafted the mosaics throughout the breathtaking park.

Houston Art Fair
September 29–October 2
World-renowned exhibitors flock to the Bayou City for a weekend's worth of fine art exhibits, lectures, presentations and more. More than 15,000 collectors and art appreciations are expected to attend this annual fair favorite, with highlights including New Mexico-based gallery Peters Projects that will display paintings from critically acclaimed artist Kenton Nelson and works from Navajo ceramic artist Christine Nofchissey McHorse. Local talents will also be represented, as Houstonian artist collective Alabama Song's art installation greets fair attendees at the entrance, as well as local galleries, like Deborah Colton Gallery and Redbud Gallery, setting-up shop at this must-see exposition.
