Primer Grey is also putting their head in the game. The local design firm created Houston-themed emoji stickers—appropriately dubbed Houmoji—that celebrate the pride of place visitors and Houstonians share for the country's fourth largest city.
Designed late last year by illustrator and cartographer Hannah McClure, her "stickers" are now available for purchase on iTunes for $1.99. The collection is a compilation of people, places and things that define the Bayou City, like Rice University’s Skyspace and the newest Texas Historical Commission landmark, the Astrodome.
"I had a personal collection of really quick watercolored sketches in a book I carried around when I first moved to Houston. I would explore aimlessly, but local Houstonians recommended spots and food to check out," says McClure about how she curated her Houmoji set. "I would sketch icons to learn my way around town. I'm from Baton Rouge originally, but I've been dubbed a "Houstonian by osmosis" recently, and I really like that!"
