If you missed last weekend's Nutcracker Market, rest assured: More than five dozen local vendors will be hawking their wares at Winter Street Studios for this year's 12th annual Winter Holiday Art Market. The event, put on by Fresh Arts, features local artists, jewelers, designers, and creatives of all types as they vie for a place on your holiday gift list.

Gulf Coast Reading Series

Nov. 17 | Rudyard's British Pub

Gulf Coast, the literary journal published by UH's creative writing department, will host Beth Ann Fennelly, Poet Laureate of Mississippi, and several others for a featured reading of poetry and fiction. You only have to glance at the daunting list of accolades to know you're in for a treat, but, on the off-chance everyone bombs, at least there are Rudyard's famous tater tots, yes?

Houstonia's Burger Bash 2017

Yeah, we could be humble and not mention our own event, but when you've curated 15+ local restaurants to face off to see who has the best burger in Houston, how could we resist giving it a plug? Add drinks, a petting zoo, caricatures and other family-friendly fun all beneath a breathtaking downtown view, and we dare you to find a better Saturday afternoon. There will even be veggie-friendly options, just so you won't have any excuses.

Rhinoceros

The Catastrophic Theatre revives Eugene Ionesco's 1959 anti-fascist comedy for a timely take on what actor Joel Sandel calls "Trump people" (and everyone else). Written in the aftermath of World War II, it’s the story of a town whose citizens slowly turn into rhinoceroses one by one, examining how individuals give in or stand up to the herd mentality.
