Dec. 29 | White Oak Music Hall
With a name inspired by the Smiths' "Girlfriend in a Coma," this San Antonio-based girl group brings their guitar-centric sound to White Oak Music Hall, along with Houston indie pop favorites Wild Moccasins. Fight Me!, a poseur rock group that just released their first single, will round out the evening's bill.

The Houston Symphony will perform John Williams' iconic score live to accompany a screening of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, aka the one with the flying car and big snake that kills people with its eyes.

Thru Dec. 31 | Rec Room
This Cyndi Lauper-inspired rock opera promises to impress "anyone who’s ever been disappointed by New Year’s Eve." In an evening that appears to be equal parts theater and concert, a crew of musicians will follow the lead of writer/performer Traci Lavois Thiebaud and composer Anthony Barilla as they ring in the New Year as part of Rec Room's regular immersive, interactive programming.

Dec. 31 | Numbers Nightclub
Ring in 2018 at this Montrose mainstay, with this installment marking the 40th year of Numbers New Year's Eve. The 17+ evening centers on a $2018 cash midnight ball drop and includes free party favors and a Champagne toast. And, as always, come for the eclectic Numbers crowd of all ages and all stripes.

Okay, this one is certainly a little pricey, but your ticket buys you a spot at Drake's favorite hotel.
