As world-renowned musicians perform in the Bayou City before the Big Game, Super Bash Houston—this weekend's Super Bowl music festival—conducted a survey that asked Texans, "What's the Lone Star State's worst song?"
The statewide poll asked 1,000 randomly selected residents to vote for the worst tune, whether it was by a Texan or about the state in general.
And the survey says: Ashlee Simpson's 2004 pop hit "La La."
Dallas-raised Simpson received 25 percent of the vote for her teen ballad from more than a decade ago. (Hey–Texans never forget.)
Pop wasn't the only genre that got a bad rap: RiFF RaFF's "Dolce and Gabbana" (23 percent) and Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby" (21.9 percent) weren't favorites from the two Houstonian rappers. The Bayou City also didn't appreciate the shout-out in Seattle native Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Jump On It" (9.7 percent), according to the survey.
Even King George Strait wasn't spared, as "All My Ex's Live in Texas" garnered 12 percent of the unpopular vote. But judging by the song's title, the odds were never in his favor.
