It was way back in 2011 when Beyoncé released the unofficial boss babe anthem. "Boy you know you love it/how we're smart enough to make these millions," quoth Bey. "Strong enough to bear the children/then get back to business." It can't be a coincidence that boss babes seem to have proliferated ever since, not least in Queen B's hometown.
On Friday, over 30 of them (dare I say ... us?) will be doing what they do best—hustling, but making it look super fun and easy—at the HTX Boss Babes Spring Pop-Up Market, taking place on March 31, 6-10 p.m. at Summer Street Studios.
Some of these Boss Babes are no strangers to Houstonia, like A Leap of Style's Karissa Lindsay, Martha Mtegha of Ark + Nomad and Myth + Symbol's Trang Nguyen. Others are ladies with awesome projects we are pumped to discover, like the boho adornments of Lovecraft Jewelry, Spanglish Threadz' adorable kid tees, the feminine fashions and fascinators of Pippa and Pearl and hilarious mugs and paper goods by Carla Sue.
And of course this market is free to attend, family- and dog-friendly, and will feature tunes from DJ Ill-Set and bites by Cochinita & Co. and Popstontx, because that's just how boss babes roll.
