Only a true icon inspires drag imitation. I'm talking Cher, Barbra, Liza and now ... Dominique?

I knew things were about to get seriously campy when episode four of RuPaul's Drag Race featured a group challenge to create a morning news show sketch, but I did not expect one of the queens—Trinity Taylor of Orlando, to be exact—to give us full Dominique-Sachse-behind-the-anchor-desk realness. No shade, but does this look remind anyone else of KPRC's Emmy-winning evening anchor?

Just to be clear, I am not saying the following things:

  • This drag queen looks like Dominique Sachse all the time. (No.)
  • Dominique Sachse looks like a drag queen. (Definitely not.)
  • Morning news would be better if it was staffed by drag queens. (Wait, this I do support. I wasn't trying to say this, but now I am.)

Despite how Trinity nailed the mandatory hair volume, the hint of Botox and the snappy red blazer, she definitely does not have Sachse's skill. The real Dominique Sachse would never let a news segment go this wrong. Also I think Dominique Sachse would straight-up cut any amateur who stepped on her sign-off like this.

In conclusion, I look forward to seeing several faux-Dominiques at Rich's in the near future lip synching to It's Raining Men.
