It's a weird time to be a musician. Instead of making money from album sales (RIP), these days the way to cash in on your brand—and offer something exclusive for devoted fans—is with a pop-up shop. Kanye created round-the-block lines in Houston with his The Life of Pablo pop-up last August, and other hip hop acts including Future, Drake, Big Sean and Ty Dolla $ign have all celebrated new albums and mixtapes with limited-edition shopping experiences in major cities.
The latest act to drop a capsule collection is Canadian R&B singer The Weeknd, who will launch his Starboy 2017 collection in eight cities this weekend, including Houston. The limited-edition collection is available May 5-7 at The Webster in (or technically adjacent to) The Galleria, with the shop open 12-7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 12-8 p.m. Sunday.
Fans can expect T-shirts, hoodies, bombers, denim jackets, hats and more goodies, including some limited-edition designs that are specific to each city.
Still on the fence about dropping a bunch of cash on The Weeknd branded merch? Remember: You're always worth it. And you deserve it. The way you work it—girl, you earned it.
