This summer salad from Tres Market Foods would be perfect for a picnic.

July is National Picnic Month. We know, it may be a little hot in Houston for dining al fresco, but if the breeze hits just right, we’ll be celebrating by finding a shady spot and bringing along one of these meals, already boxed and ready to eat.

Tres Market Foods

Fancy lunchboxes at this to-go restaurant and bakery in Memorial include mini beef tenderloin sandwiches with cider mustard on Parker House rolls and the fruit-filled Orchard Salad, served with more fruit and a cookie. The chocolate chips are especially habit-forming.

Seiwa Market

You can get grab-and-go sushi at most supermarkets, but it won’t be as good as it is at this Energy Corridor destination. Better still: the poke bowls and bento boxes filled with everything from yakiniku to fried chicken. Grab Japanese sodas and candy for a complete feast.

Picnic

The name says it all at this West University bakery and deli. Sandwiches, including pimento cheese and pork tenderloin with ancho mayo, are boxed up with fruit salad, chips, a pickle and a cookie. There are salads, too, including a Greek with lemon-roasted chicken.
