Are you a college student whose favorite course so far has been Writing for Print and Digital Media? Just finished a semester with the college newspaper and looking for somewhere to apply those journalism skills? Always wanted to write for a local media outlet and weren't sure how to get your foot in the door?
Houstonia is hiring interns for the fall semester, and we want you—yes, you!—if you're going to be a current, enrolled student at the time of the internship. Many of our interns receive college credit for their work here, which includes a 15-to-20-hour-per-week commitment to fact-checking articles, assisting editors with research and reporting, and, of course, writing. All interns are paid by the blog post for online writing, and ambitious interns are often assigned print stories within the magazine itself.
Our interns become a part of the Houstonia team for the semester by contributing their own ideas, attending meetings, and getting to know the editorial staff. Successful candidates will be detail-oriented, responsible, well-read, curious, and knowledgeable about the city.
To apply, simply send a cover letter, a résumé with references, and three writing samples to Catherine Matusow, Executive Editor at firstname.lastname@example.org. No phone calls, please.
Hope to see you this fall!
