Hurricane Harvey brought Houston together like never before. It seems like everyday Houstonians are coming up with new ways to raise money to help out their neighbors and repair the city.
LAUNCH, the downtown pop-up shop featuring rotating collections of art, home goods, apparel, and accessories from local designers, is among the latest to join the wave of Houston businesses raising money. In addition to the designers LAUNCH is featuring for September and October, the shop is also selling a quartet of locally designed Houston T-shirts printed by LAUNCH alum Gooseworks, with 100 percent of the proceeds from each $28 tee going to Mayor Turner's Harvey Relief Fund.
Houston's illustrious graffiti artist GONZO247 created a graffiti-style design, and Anvil Cards was moved to dabble in apparel, creating a tee that emphasizes Houston's beloved skyline. Two Houston First graphic designers—Lewis Cuellar and LD Forrest—complete the quartet with logos riffing on Harvey-inspired phrases like "Houston Strong" and "I'll Stand Bayou." Shirts can be purchased at LAUNCH, located on the ground floor of the Houston Partnership Tower or via the LAUNCH website.
While you're there, don't forget to check out the latest crop of Houston makers and their wares, including paper-based art and jewelry by Balushka, vintage-inspired tees by LondonBerry, Ceibo's adorable vegan handbags and men's athletic apparel from Jamel Hawk.
