Next Thursday brings a chance to clink glasses with Houston’s finest fashionistas, update your coffee table book collection, and feel good about both when A Couture Cause returns for its fifth year.
The annual charity fundraising event, billed as a “haute soiree,” serves as the launch party for the 2018 Trend Guide, which is exactly what it sounds like: The highly coveted coffee table book is a collaboration between Houston designers and boutiques and highlights 25 local trendsetters, including entrepreneurs, philanthropists and artists.
Fashionable Houstonians moonlight as bona fide models in the glossy book to showcase the year’s top trends as chosen by favorite shopping destinations like Tootsies and Vintage Contessa & Times Past. Featured trendsetters were nominated for their style and commitment to philanthropy.
This year’s event benefits two nonprofits: A Shelter for Cancer Families, which provides support and housing to cancer patients and their loved ones, and Youth Hope Association, which offers interactive events for pediatric patients in treatment at local hospitals.
All ticket sales benefit the aforementioned nonprofits, and a portion of event proceeds will also be donated to the city’s Harvey Relief Fund, which provides emergency financial assistance to flood victims.
A Couture Cause is the brainchild of local bloggers Lyndsey Zorich (L. Avenue) and Candace Thomas (Luxe...With Kids) and photographer Traci Ling. This year’s Trend Guide Chairs are Neekie Kashani, Carrie Brandsberg-Dahl, Shannon Addison, Christine Falgout, and Stephanie Fleck.
The January 25 fete kicks off at 7 p.m. at Big Brothers Big Sisters on Washington Avenue. Tickets start at $200 and are available online.
