IT'S MONDAY. Let’s start the week by cleaning out the inbox and scouring the Houston food and drink scene. Here is your weekly news update.

I'll Have What She's Having, a women-led organization composed of figures in hospitality, small business, the arts, and health care, aimed at raising awareness and funds in support of women's health, is marking #WellWeek this week.

Sunday was the sixth annual Depressed Cake Shop Houston event, in which baked goods decorated in grays, blues, and blacks were available for purchase. The event called to attention mental health issues felt by people in the food and beverage industry. Today, a "Happy Birth Day" pop-up dinner will be held at the Dunlavy. Starring a collection of up-and-coming female chefs and industry leaders, the multi-course dinner will benefit the Shades of Blue Project, which helps minority women suffering from postpartum depression and/or anxiety.

More than 50 local restaurants are taking part this week by featuring a mocktail or "depressed" dessert, aiming to raise awareness about mental health. For more information about participating restaurants, visit www.illhavewhatsheshaving.org.

I think for my eighth birthday my parents took me to the theater to see "The Mighty Ducks." That seems about right. For its eighth birthday, Bernie's Burger Bus is having a huge party at 8th Wonder Brewery. The free celebration scheduled for 4-6 p.m. Sunday includes burgers, cake, a live band, and 8th Wonder beer. Lucky them.

Speaking of birthdays, Roka Akor turned one year old this week. The Japanese steakhouse and sushi restaurant celebrated with a big fancy party at its Upper Kirby digs. Proceeds from the event went to Hermann Park Conservancy and its young professionals organization Urban Green. Many of the more than 300 attendees sipped Roka cocktails and enjoyed some of the restaurant's dishes, from beef and lobster gyoza to Korean spiced lamb chops. DJ Sun provided the entertainment, while a traditional kagami biraki, or sake ceremony, led to shots for all.

'Tis the season for pumpkin ... well ... everything. Peli Peli is joining the seasonal craze by featuring a pumpkin spiced martini on its new fall cocktail list. That drink (with pumpkin seeds, amarula, cinnamon and nutmeg, along with espresso vodka and bourbon) is joined by a honey cidre spritzer, a spicy cucumber margarita, and "new-school" sazerac, and The Legacy, which has Legacy Canadian whiskey, honey, lemon, and cranberry juice.

In case you don't keep track of these things, October is National Pizza Month (like we need an excuse). Grimaldi's has a nice deal going on this month, in case you're looking to feed your small army: On Mondays (like today), a 16-inch pizza is $10, That's good for dine-in or take-out pies until close. Toppings are additional.

October is also National Root for the Astros as They Attempt To Win a World Series For the Second Time Month, which I just coined. Local Foods is helping your in-game eating efforts by offering some quick service. Place an order at Local Foods Downtown, then drop by to pick it up. It'll be in a clear, one-gallon bag, which means it's allowed at the ballpark. You're gonna have to buy beer at the park, however.

Eater reports that Mian, a Chongqing-style noodle restaurant with locations in San Gabriel, California; and Las Vegas, will open on Bellaire Boulevard in Asiatown. The restaurant is from the mind of Tony Xu, who also owns Chengdu Taste.

From openings to closings:  CultureMap reports the Smith & Wollensky in Highland Village will be closing Saturday. According to the report, the steakhouse's 15-year lease is ending, and officials decided not to renew.
