This Saturday, 12-1, we'll be releasing 2018 Murry Chrimmus and 2018 barrel aged Murry Fuggin Chrimmus at noon alongside axe throwing from @epicaxehouston. Murry Chrimmus is a 12% abv Imperial Porter conditioned on Chocolate and Vietnamese cinnamon. For MFC, we took the base version of Murry and aged it in Trinidadian rum and Dickel Rye whiskey barrels for 9 months. Folks ask if we've put coconut in it, and the answer is no, the flavors of the barrel, chocolate, and cinnamon build upon each other to create new flavors that weren't added intentionally to the beer. It's very complex and one of our favorite things about barrel aging. Bottles of MFC are $14, Murry is $8. Both beers will be on draft.

It's Christmas beer season. That means baking spices, big ABVs and ... well, that's basically what it means. Sigma is rolling out its Murry Chrimmus and Murry Fuggin Chrimmus from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday. MC ($8 per bottle) is a 12 percent ABV imperial porter conditioned on chocolate and Vietnamese cinnamon, so it's very Houstonian. MFC ($14 per bottle), meanwhile, has that profile but was then aged for nine months in Trinidadian rum and Dickel Rye whiskey barrels. Good gravy. You can score them on draft, too.

A new brewery will be opening in 2019 a few blocks north of Saint Arnold Brewing Co. Local Group Brewing Co. last week filed an application for a brewpub license with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission., and plans to be pouring the suds at 1504 Chapman St. in Near Northside sometime around the second quarter of next year. The brewery shared a floor plan on its Facebook page; there'll be a standalone kitchen, moderately sized taproom, and patio at what once was the Acme Pattern Works facility. 

Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co. provided an update on the construction of its new facility at 2101 Summer St. Check out a time-lapse gif in the update, along with news about a few new holiday releases: Spruce Tip IPA (brewed with spruce, of course), Gingerbread Stout (a 10.2 percent ABV brew with lots of baking spices), and Feliz Navidad (a gingerbread stout aged on mild ancho chiles). 

Need a holiday pick-me-up? Saint Arnold is releasing a winter specialty called French Press, an imperial coffee porter made with coffee from Java Pura. At 9.4 percent ABV, it's a big 'un combining chocolate and coffee flavors with lots of malts. Visit the brewery next week to grab some (or find it at your big grocery).

Eureka Heights has a new beer: Bottomless Lyrics. This IPA (named after a Flight of the Conchords reference) includes hops from New Zealand, including Motueka, Rakau, and Wakatu. The beer promises a fruity aroma (pears, apples, peaches), while the hop profile seems to be trending this one to tropical-floral territory. An early pic of the beer shows it to be a more translucent gold, so maybe we're not in for So Hot Right Now Vol. 2. About 6.2 percent ABV. Sessionable, perhaps?

Speaking of Eureka Heights, next Saturday is its first White Oak Holiday Pub Crawl. Starting at 2 p.m., head to any participating location (Christian's Tailgate White Oak, Bobcat Teddy's Ice House, Public House Heights, Little Woodrow's Heights) and pick up a punch card, then go to each spot on the crawl with that card for a beer. You should end at Onion Creek to pick up a pub crawl glass (starting at 6 p.m.).

If you want bottles of Brash's most recent imperial stout Peanvt Bvtter Wölf, you'll have to wait until next Friday, per the brewery. It is on tap, but probably not for long. 

Spindletap's newest—El Jugo Double IPA with passionfruit (9 percent ABV) and Diamonds In My Mouth DIPA (8 percent ABV)—are both available at the brewery now. Grab some noon to 7 p.m. Saturday or 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. $20 for four El Jugos and $16 for four DIMMs. Meantime, Houston Haze IPA will be on grocery shelves in early 2019, per the brewery.
