It's time to untangle that kite you've been hiding in the closet since around this time last year, and brush up on the most underrated of Mary Poppins songs (hint: it's Let's Go Fly A Kite), because the fifth annual Hermann Park Conservancy Kite Festival returns to Houston on Sunday, March 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Kites of all shapes and sizes will set sail over Miller Hill and around the Jones Reflection Pool, The best part about it? The event is totally free and totally family friendly with food trucks, live entertainment, and an H-E-B Kids’ Zone on hand with crafts and activities. Check out the full lineup at hermannpark.org/kitefestival.
Hopefully you have stamina, because also happening that very same weekend is the fourth annual Bayou Greenway Day, a free outdoor festival at Tidwell Park at Halls Bayou Greenway on Saturday, March 24, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., celebrating all things Houston parks, trails and bayous. Bring the family to walk, bike, run, picnic or hang out. The fest also features an obstacle course, face painting, a guided children’s bike ride, music, art, free food and the Texans and Dynamo on hand with games.
