Swing for the Cure
When: Monday, April 23; 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Where: Sweetwater Country Club, 4400 Palm Royale Blvd., Sugar Land
What: Support the Nancy Owens Breast Cancer Foundation and its ongoing fundraising efforts for breast cancer research while hitting the links at this annual, day-long golf tournament. Registration begins at 9 a.m. when the driving range opens, and a putting contest follows at 10; at 11, a shotgun start signals the start of the tournament, which includes a boxed lunch and, after a 4 p.m. conclusion, a cocktail hour with a cash bar. Awards are presented at 4:30 p.m. for honors including Best Ball, Longest Drive, and Closest to the Pin. The evening ends with dinner and raffle drawings for items like a Yeti cooler filled with liquor and a round of golf for four at Quail Valley and Sweetwater Country Club. Register online.
Yoga on the Meadow
When: Saturday, April 28; 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Where: Houstonian Hotel, Club and Spa, 111 N. Post Oak Ln.
What: Eight outdoor yoga sessions (including one mid-day lesson specifically for families) and a family-friendly day of food, contests, healthy cooking demos, live music, and more make up the second annual event that educates guests about Nora's Home, Houston's haven for organ failure and transplant patients receiving care in the Texas Medical Center.
