A preview of what Les Noo'dle has in store.

Maybe I shouldn't be telling you this, but I'm going strawberry picking this weekend. It's just the thing I need to prepare for blueberry season, which is oh so close. No matter how you're soaking up the sun this weekend, do stay hydrated. Here's some news:

  • Fig & Olive Houston is hosting their first Bubbles & Brunch event this Saturday, April 28. The champagne bash starts at noon and features a $35 prix fixe menu for those looking for bites, as well as a $20 bubbles-only flight. This event highlights their Veuve Clicquot offerings and will also include a live DJ, an array of patio games, and Veuve-centric door prizes.
  • Heading to the Galleria this fall is Musaafer. From the Spice Route Company, this new Indian spot, according to a press release, features a menu where “[e]very dish will tell a story, weaving in regional influence and fabled legend.” It continues: “Spice blends sourced from home cooks and small villages will be hand-ground exclusively for Musaafer and paired with very specific ingredients sourced for the restaurant from India.” With design from Chromed Design Studio, Musaafer sounds like one of the most ambitious openings of the year.
  • Les Noo’dle has set May 5 as its official opening date. Located at 1717 Montrose, this pho noodle bar is the latest from owner/chef Cat Huynh, the mind behind Les Ba’get. Les Ba’get will be reopening over the summer at 1717 W. 34th Street. In the meantime, Les Noo’dle will be offering a new and different spin on healthy, refreshing dishes, focusing on elevating traditional pho.
  • Hotel Derek is celebrating Cinco de Mayo early with its fourth annual Cocktail Throwdown. The event happens on May 3, and features some of Houston’s top charities going head to head in a cocktail competition. Tickets are $25 per person. Charities involved include NACE Professional Chapter, NACE Student chapter, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Diabetes Research Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. You can visit the Facebook event page for more details.
  • Nando’s may not have made its way to Houston yet, but if you want to discover what the hype is with Portugese-style peri peri chicken, The Peri Peri Factory has you covered. Located at 6375 Westheimer Road, they’re open for business, and the chicken is available in seven different spice levels. Good luck, spice fans. (HT Eater Houston
  • How far can a Hamilton take you? Brennan’s of Houston is happy to show you with their new Hamilton menu, running now through May 20. The à la carte menu items include Alexander's Fig Thyme Jam, The Hamilton Manhattan, 10-Year Blandy’s Madeira, Malmsey, Hamilton’s Boeuf à la Mode Meat Pie, and Hamilton Milk Punch Cream Puffs, each only costing $10.
  • Need another reason to cheer on the Rockets during the postseason? After every Rockets win, Treebeards will be offering up their trio plate, a choice of three side dishes, including black-eyed peas with ham, mustard greens, and a rotating selection of seasonal vegetables and fruit, for 40 percent off. Given the Rockets' love of both threes and beards, this is a pretty smart special.
  • Longing for cheese curds? Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers locations across the country, including Houston, have them on their menu starting today, in regular and large portion sizes.
