This month we’re hosting an all-lady party, a) because it’s ladies who have generated more interesting news lately, and b) because we feel like it. Miranda Lambert is coming to town this month (August 10, Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion), but she scores an invite for another reason: her MuttNation Foundation, which adopted out dozens of rescue dogs at the Nashville CMA Fest this summer. Other cool women on our radar: Morgan Lindsay, the beautiful, and beautifully confident, UH student/model selected out of thousands for Khloé Kardashian’s Good American jeans campaign; Rebecca Richards-Kortum, the Rice bioengineer recently named a U.S. State Department science envoy, tasked with expanding Africa’s access to American engineering research; Ayesha Curry, the famous foodie (and yes, wife to Steph) whose exciting new restaurant, International Smoke, just opened up at CityCentre; Patricia “Pat” Mann Phillips, the energy consultant and first woman ever named to the executive board of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo; and Kirsten Koryciak, the HPD officer who made headlines when, working a security gig at a local Walmart, she replaced the groceries and medication stolen from a diabetic man in the parking lot. Way to go, everyone!
