Lupe Tortilla, the Tex-Mex chain with more than 20 locations in and around the Houston area and throughout Texas, is coming to Missouri City, specifically the master-planned community Sienna Plantation, according to a press release.
“The incredible growth in Missouri City made this an amazing opportunity right here near our own hometown,” said Peter Holt, co-owner of Lupe Tortilla. “We’re truly passionate about what we do—it’s been part of our lives as long as we can remember. We’re proud to expand our family and offer the residents in Missouri City a spot at our table.”
The release cites that Lupe Tortilla has done its business “through quality-focused growth.” It then talks about the chain’s low turnover rate and employee incentives, and finally, that there will be about 90 positions available at the Missouri City location. I suppose this is all to say, “We want job applicants.”
A little later in the release, Holt is quoted as saying that everything at Lupe Tortilla is made in-house. Then, when talking about hand-rolled tortillas: “We’ve looked, but have never found a technology that can do a better job and take as much pride as a person.” This could be interpreted any number of ways, but remember that Missouri City has a wealth of chain options (Domino’s Pizza, Dunkin’ Donuts, Chick-fil-A, IHOP, Jack in the Box).
The new Lupe Tortilla will be 7,000 square feet with room for 300 to chow down on Tex-Mex. It is scheduled to open in the fall.
