For just four hours, you can party like it was 1958 by eating a burger for a quarter at Jax Grill.

Happy Friday! Here are some news bites to hold you over before happy hour:

Set up a calendar notification for 4 p.m. Sunday. Both locations of Jax Grill (Shepherd, Bellaire) will be celebrating 25 years in Houston with $0.25 burgers. No typos here, that’s a burger for a dang quarter.

The big coin-purse experiment runs 4-8 p.m. and is part of a larger party across the two locations. At Bellaire, a family centric celebration includes free popcorn, snow cones, and cotton candy, plus face painting and music from DJ James. Over at Shepherd you’ll get music from LT and the Zydeco Mob, a happy hour running 4 p.m. to close, and tons of Cajun specials. Oh, and kids eat for free at both locations between 4 and 8 p.m. The burgers will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, one per customer.

In other news, Indigo, led by Jonny Rhodes (formerly of Oxheart) and wife Chana, began service last night, says Eater. Running with a tasting menu (five courses, $79), Indigo has two services (6 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.) and has just 13 seats for each. Dress is business casual, according to the Indigo website.

Menu items include chilled watermelon Kool-Aid with pickled blueberries and rose oil, smoked Carolina brisket with Carolina brown mustard and beets stewed in sorghum, and magnolia blossom ice cream and peach skin preserves with salted butterscotch and thyme.

The dishes, according to Eater, reflect an opportunity for Rhodes to own stereotypes thrown at people of color. On the GoFundMe page for Indigo, Rhodes states his mission: “Something of this magnitude means the world to us. We're not only creating this concept to represent our upbringing and our culture, but to represent a culture oppressed by other cultures seen more fit for fine dining.”

There’s no football happening on Sunday, which is a bummer because it’s National Chicken Wing Day. Fun fact: According to GrubHub, Houstonians order chicken wings 112 percent more than Austinites. We. Win.

But how can you celebrate National Chicken Wing Day? Well, Capitol Bar is hosting All You Can Eat Wing Fest on … Saturday? Well, just chow down on wings Saturday and get that $0.25 burger on Sunday.
