A bunch of local breweries are heading this weekend to Galveston for a special event, while back at home, there are more than enough new brews leaving tanks. Most interesting? How about a beer honoring arguably America's greatest living comedy legend?

This Thursday marks the 97th birthday of our patron saint, Betty White. We are so excited to celebrate America's Sweetheart that we decided to brew a pilot batch. ⠀ ⠀ Rose Nylund is a Betty White IPA brewed with Galaxy, Citra and Mosaic then aged on Rose Hips. We used a Belgian White yeast to give off tons of tropical and floral notes then dry hopped at 5#'s per barrel. Before you ask, yes it is hazy. Since it was a pilot batch it will be brewery only but we will have crowlers available to go. ⠀ ⠀ Join us Thursday for the beer release + birthday cake + Betty White raffle prizes all night long. Raffle tickets free with any purchase.
For Betty White's 97th birthday, Eureka Heights (who has a photo of her adorning its wall) brewed up a white IPA (heh) aged on Rose Hips (heh heh). It's called (wait for it) Rose Nylund. Have one, then find yourself telling stories about what it was like back in St. Olaf.
What's new at Ingenious this week: Smarty Shake IPA, a 7.3 percent ABV sour IPA with milk sugar; Smarty Shake Mango Colada IPA; and cans of Smarty Shake Passion Orange Guava IPA and C800 New England Double IPA.
Southern Star has a test batch of Shake That Mash For Me, a hazy milkshake IPA with vanilla, lactose, Citra, and Waimea hops.
At B-52, grab My Spirit Viking, a collaboration with Urban South. This hazy double IPA was brewed with lactose and clocks in at 9.3 percent ABV. Release is 3 p.m. today.
City Acre is bringing back Suspiria Blood Orange Blonde on Jan. 25. As part of that return, five bars in the Houston area will put it on their taps. Check here to find out where.
Grab your ticket now for Baa Baa Brewhouse's latest can release. This release, part of its Teddy Bear Series, features three brews: Give Me Back My Honey Hazy Pale Ale, Marmalade Day Hazy IPA, and LOTS-O' JUICE Hazy DIPA. As of now only Give Me Back My Honey is left ($18 per). Pickup is noon-5 p.m. Jan. 27.
